Help CCNV Renew its LeaseFor more than
twenty-nine years, contributors like you have been very instrumental in helping
us to achieve our mission. Whether you know it or not, each word of support has
helped us to stay this course, each donation we received helped us in our mission
of ensuring that the rights of the homeless and poor were not infringed upon.
Each morsel of food, each piece of clothing, etc., helped us in our mission of
ensuring that the homeless men and women had access to life's basic essentials
- food, clothing, shelter and medical care. In
other words, by your support and donations, you are helping us to protect the
rights of the homeless, advocate on behalf of the underserved, and prepare homeless
men and women to reenter the mainstream of society as skilled and productive citizens.
It's a noble mission and you have been a major part in its accomplishment. Many
thanks !!! Before this mission ends, we are asking you to seriously consider the following questions: Has the problem of homelessness been sufficiently addressed so we no longer have a need to worry about it? Have affordable housing, health care, training, employment, living wage, etc., been made available to all in need of such? Can we now close the doors of CCNV with no fear of swelling the streets, parks, abandoned buildings, etc. with an additional thousand homeless people? If you answered "Not yet!" to any of the above questions, Then YOU MUST help us continue our mission by petitioning the Mayor to renew CCNV's lease so adequate shelter will remain available until these issues are resolved. You may do so by contacting the Mayor of the District of Columbia at mayor@dc.gov.org or fax it to (202) 727-0505. Please help! Visit! We have the capacity to welcome and house several student groups. Some of the groups which visited in recent times were Johnson State College, VT; Virginia Tech; Norwich University, VT; Wake Forest University; University of Vermont; Indiana University; St. John/St. Benedict; University of Wisconsin - Madison; Northwestern University; Loras College; and Vermont Tech. For more information on setting these group trips up, please contact Mark Raymond. We welcome groups all year round, not just during school vacation periods.
